Sam: And you're the best Mom!... besides Grandma.

Rough Night

Poor Maarti has a cold which made for a pretty rough night. I was up with her from about 12:30 - 2:30 before she finally went back to sleep. Since she is feeling so rotten I put on a cartoon for her this afternoon and then went to get a few things done in the kitchen. Not long later I heard Sam call "We've got a sleeper in here!". This is what I found when I went to check on her:

Aww... what a Sweetie!

Busy Day

We had a busy day of running around on Wednesday. Sam had preshool in the morning, then Sam and I had dental appointments. Sam did awesome and even got his teeth polished this time... it's amazing what the promise of a new toothbrush will do for a preschooler. Wish I was as easily impressed.

After the dentist we were off to see the Eye Doctor. Jeremy needed an appointment so we decided to have the kid's eyes checked at the same time. They did great! Special thanks to Dr. Farley who is amazing with kids!

What's wrong with this picture?

Jeremy and I usually check on the kids before we go to bed. This is how we found Maarti the other night and we were left wondering how she accomplished getting that stroller in her crib.

I suspect this guy had something to do with it...

They sure look innocent when they are sleeping though.

Can Anyone Say "Cabin Fever"?

Our week started out with snow. Awesome! Snow is not the norm here so when we get it, we enjoy it!

Problem is... in less than 24 hours that snow turned into rain and it hasn't stopped!... and guess what? I just looked at the 7 day forcast... we're in for 7 more days of rain!! Ugh! We are suffering from cabin fever! Time to be creative! First we made these pigs:

The kids love making crafts and have been playing with them all afternoon.
Note to self: Go to Michaels this weeknd and pick up more craft supplies... we're gonna need 'em!

Next we decided to make a treat for Daddy -
Blueberry cinnamon buns!

Slap some icing on these babies and I think he'll be happy!

And in case you want to try these yourself:

Blueberry Cinnamon Buns

Set yeast:
1/2 cup warm water
1 tsp sugar
1 Tbsp yeast

Mix dough:
1 cup warm water
2 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1 egg
2 Tbsp oil
4 cups flour

Knead. Cover. Rise for one hour. Repeat.
Roll out dough and brush with 1/4 cup melted butter.
Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture (1/2 cup sugar and 1 and a half tsp. of cinnamon).
Sprinkle with blueberries (as many as you like).
Roll up, cut and place in greased pan.
Let rise for an hour.
Bake at 350 for 20 minutes.

Enjoy!

The Grass is Always Greener?

Sam: Mom, I wish I was five.

Me: Why?

Sam: Well then I could do five year old stuff.

Me: Like what?

Sam: Well, like coloring. I scribble, but when you are five you color in the lines. (thinks for a minute).... Mom, is Dad five?

Me: No, he's 37.

Sam: Whoa!

Me: Well, what do you think you get to do when you are 37?

Sam: Hmm, you get to clean the dishes.

37 eh?... he's in for a rude awakening in a couple of years I think!

Oh, Those Dinner Conversations

Sam: Mom, When I grow up I want to be a Super Hero.

Me: I know that 'cause you tell me every day. (He really does!) Maarti, what about you? What do you want to be when you grow up?

Maarti: Cake Cake (that is what she calls Strawberry Shortcake), with a hat and Strawberries!

Sam: Maarti! She's just pretend! You can't be that!
