Latest Read

One of my goals for this year has been to read more... Mostly I've been a disappointment to myself on that one... BUT I did just finish reading "Get Out of That Pit" by Beth Moore. It took a little while to get used to her writing style, but it didn't take long for me to really appreciate what she had to say.

A Couple Quotes:

"Christ got down next to us in the grave, stayed the better part of three days, and then got up... so we'd have permission to get up too. And start living life."

"You and I certainly don't want to be afraid of intimacy or shrink back from bearing our true estate with people. If we do that, we'll become as cold and hard as plastic and shelve ourselves from every purpose of our existence. (For starters, inauthentic people are ineffective people. For finishers, liberty cannot exist apart from transparency.) Human clay finds its moisture in relationships and will evaporate into dust without them."

In other news:
We've been working on "Time Outs" with Sam...
Pray for us!! It's not easy to get our boy to stay on a chair for one minute!

FOR TERI:
I'll try and get some pics up this week... just for you!

March Blues....

It has been a hard March for keeping our spirits up we have found:
- we've all had the flu
- the weather has been cold and gloomy
- this baby is sure making me uncomfortable
- Sam has been a terrible sleeper
- can't seem to win roll up the rim no matter how many times we play!!

Guess it's time to start thinking of some positives:
- If this baby isn't here in five weeks we are all going out for Chinese!! (followed by a very long walk!!!)
- The daffodils are giving me hope that we will get spring for real
- Jeremy gets to play his new guitar in church soon
- Sammy has the most fantastic Grandparents who step in and help right when we are most desperate
- A friend of ours recently decided to become a God-follower and he is VERY excited about his new faith
- We just celebrated Easter with family
- I'm almost through a good book by Beth Moore "Get Out of That Pit" and also started the month by attending a Beth Moore conference... is already one of the highlights of 2008
- Cadbury mini eggs
- Roll up the Rim has given us a good excuse to do coffee with friends more often!!!

Ahhh.... feeling better already!!! What have been your highlights from the last month?

"Train up a child in the way he should go..."

Thankfully he has chosen "Timmy's" over "Buckies" or a college fund would definitely be out of the question!! Way to be thrifty Sam!!

In other news...

Grandma gave Sam a haircut!
Doesn't he look so grown up?

Baby #2

This is Jeremy's new "baby". Someone wanted to buy his old bass so Jeremy was able to put the money towards this one. He's pretty stoked about it, but don't worry... I'm sure he'll be even more stoked when the actual "baby #2" arrives in 11 weeks!!! (or... hopefully... 9 weeks...)

What A Find!!

I was at Michael's the other day and found these rhinestone stickers in the $1.50 bin. I finally had a chance to play with them tonight... so fun. Wish I would've picked up a few more packages!!!
(Sorry the picture doesn't show the rhinestones very well... they are way better in real life!)

Highly Recommended

I certainly don't get read as much as I would like to, but I have been slowly plugging my way through "The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands" by Dr. Laura. It is, by far, the best book on marriage I have ever read and would highly recommend it.
Some things it has me thinking about:
- Do I show Jeremy my appreciation for being the provider for our family? (and do I nag him to do more around the house as though I don't think providing is enough?)
- Do I try and turn Jeremy into a girlfriend instead of appreciating the unique qualities he has as a male?
- Would I want our son to be married to a woman that treats him the way I treat Jeremy?

Has anyone else read this book? What were your thoughts? If you haven't read it... do, and then let me know what your opinion is.
